Delicious and Simple Lemon Bliss Balls
I love the convenience of energy balls, power balls, bliss balls, call them what you want, however supermarket varieties contain ingredients I’m not a fan of and would never give to my girls.
These ultra delicious and simple to prepare lemon bliss balls are a huge hit at our house. If we head out on a road trip they are a must, not overly sweet, yet sweet enough to think you are nibbling on a treat. I brought a couple to share with a girlfriend and we drove up to Vancouver, BC for a Ana Forrest Yoga weekend workshop. They were the perfect pick-me-up in-between yoga classes.
My girls are huge fans, and so are their friends. We are known as the “healthy house”, a label I am really proud to have. It’s funny seeing their little faces grin knowing they are eating something healthy that is also delicious too.
They are such a hot item for school bake sales, and whenever we attend a potluck I’m always asked for the recipe.
With only 6 ingredients, these gorgeous lemon bliss balls are a snap to make.
This easy recipe is:
healthy, gluten-free, no bake,
raw, vegan, dairy-free, soy-free,
simple to prepare & refined sugar free,
high in fiber, highly addictive, and delicious!
Almonds and hemp seeds are packed full of protein, fiber and healthy fats. Dates provide the natural sweetener and fresh lemon juice and zest provide the refreshing taste for these heavenly treats.
I’m sharing 2 versions, both using fresh lemons and lemon zest, and using doTERRA lemon essential oil. Both are equally delicious. (I only use doterra oils as they are CPTG (certified pure therapeutic grade, which basically means if there is a nutritional label on any of their bottles you can consume them internally) Be sure to reach out to me if you are curious about using essential oils to improve your health. You can learn more about oils here and see all the products here.
I like mine with lots of zest so I add either an extra drop of lemon essential oil, or add more zest from a fresh lemon. Have fun licking your fingers, I hope you love them as much as we do!

- 1 cup raw almonds
- 1 cup medjool dates pitted, and softened in water
- pinch of salt to taste
- zest from one meyer lemon to taste
- juice from 1/2 meyer lemon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla, or 1/2 vanilla pod
- 2 tbsp hemp seeds
- 1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut plus extra for garnish
In a food processor, grind almonds until they form small breadcrumb size chunks.
add remaining ingredients in the order listed and continue to blend until they start to stick together. Have a quick taste, add more lemon zest or salt if needed.
Use your hands to shape the mixture into balls. Roll the balls in the extra coconut and place in the fridge. Enjoy!!
- If you do not have meyer lemons use traditional lemons
- If you are using essential oils rather than fresh lemon juice and zest, add 4-6 drops of doTERRA lemon essential oil.
- Store in refrigerator in a sealed container.
- Sprouted almonds are my preferred choice as they are much easier to digest.
