Drink Your Greens Breakfast Smoothie

Getting enough greens in a day can be challenging! That’s one of the reasons I love this smoothie. And the reason why I called it “Drink Your Greens Breakfast Smoothie”.

This protein packed green smoothie is my go-to meal before I teach an early morning barre class or after any workout. Almond butter, hemp and chia seeds are rich in fibre, protein and provide an abundance of energy. It’s the perfect morning bevie to sustain you until lunch time!

It’s a great way to get the nutrients from pineapple and ginger and all the amazing benefits from kale, spinach and parsley – all without the extreme green taste.

Simply add all the ingredients to a high speed blender, and within 30 seconds you’ll have your smoothie ready to drink. My favourite blender is this vitamix, while considered the rolls royce of blenders, this baby will last years. My first one lasted my well over 10 years, and the only reason I replaced it was because I wanted the newer version which fits nicely on your kitchen countertop. This is another vitamix which is much more affordable and also designed to fit on your countertop. (Vitamix is not paying me for my opinion!!)

Drink your greens smoothie
Ingredients
  • 16 oz 2 cups coconut water
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 2 tbsp almond butter raw
  • 2 kale leaves
  • 1 cup packed spinach
  • 5 sprigs of parsley
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple sliced into chunks
  • ½ an english cucumber* sliced
  • juice from 1 lemon
  • 1 serving of reishi
  • knob of ginger
  • couple ice cubes
Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients into a high speed blender, and blend on high until smooth
Recipe Notes
  • * if using a regular cucumber, be sure to peel the skin
  • for a richer smoothie use non dairy milk of choice
