Healthy hair tips

We all well aware that living a toxic free life is essential for optimal health and happiness… but did you know it’s crucial for healthy, luscious hair too?

Now that I’m 47, I get asked a lot about my hair, so I thought I would share all my best, toxic free tips for luscious long and healthy hair. My hair routine takes me less than 30 minutes and that is when I’m washing and styling it.

Here’s what I do:

+ I eat REAL whole foods that come from Momma Nature. This includes a wide variety of veggies every day.

+ I use non toxic hair products. Just like your skincare and beauty products. When we lather our luscious locks in chemical-laced products it strips away our natural oils, causing the oil glands to overproduce, which creates oily hair that needs to be washed MORE often. The oils of your scalp are there to naturally moisturize and protect your hair.

+ I wash my hair once a week and let it dry naturally. The only exception to this, is if I’m ultra sweaty after teaching and then I’ll wash only the hair on my neck line.

+ I don’t blow dry or put any heating tools on it unless I’m going to an event. Most of the time, it’s left natural.

My favourite products:

Shampoo: dōTERRA shampoo, or Rahua Hydration Shampoo

Conditioner: dōTERRA smoothing conditioner

Dry Shampoo: Primarily Pure dry shampoo (they have a dark or light hair option)

DIY Dry shampoo: 1/4 cup arrowroot powder, couple drops of your favourite essential oil. If you have dark hair like me mix 2 tbsp arrowroot powder and 2 tbsp cacao powder with essential oils (I use lavender)

Hair Mask: Leonor Greyl Masque à l’Orchidée

Styling Serum: dōTERRA Root to tip Serum Massage into wet hair on scalp and thru ends before styling. It smells heavenly, and minimizes frizz.

Shine Serum: Rahua Legendary Amazon Oil Gently run a drop or two after styling for a beautifully smooth, shiny, anti-frizz finish.

Scalp treatment: 2 drops each of Geranium oil  Clary Sage lavender peppermint and Rosemary essential oils combined with 3-4 tbsp coconut oil.  Rub it into scalp and run through the ends of your hair. Next tie it up into a bun, and leave for a few hours, then wash your hair as normal. what you see on the outside is a reflection of the inside

Remember, what you see on the outside is a reflection of the inside — your skin, hair and nails are a direct reflection of what’s going on inside your body. It starts with what you eat and drink.  Make sure you eat a healthy, whole food diet and drink clean filtered water.  Next, you need to get good quality sleep so your body can restore and repair its beautiful self. Get sleep 8 hours a night, meditate, and remove stress and toxicity from all areas of your life. Fuel the incredible power of your body by laughing more, take time to play and have as much fun as you possibly can every single day. This will show on the outside – you won’t just have gorgeous hair, you’ll have glowing skin too!
