My top 10 wellness rituals for ultimate Health
It’s hard to believe we are already into the 3rd week of January. Many of you might have set resolutions or high intentions like writing a book, going on your dream vacation or buying a new home. Some goals however have less of a deadline and require more of a mindset shift, like waking up earlier, starting a meditation practice, having more patience and slowing down.
I’ve never been one to set a New Year’s resolution, however, I am a big fan of setting small intentions that come from a growth mindset. (I shared more in my New Year’s Rituals post). As a mum I see how often life ebb and flows and instead of setting rigid “I must do this…” goals, I allow flexibility and freedom to adjust into my life. How we handle change, and ultimately learn to adjust is such a valuable lesson. This allows us space to grow, and invites new opportunities and quite often even better outcomes. This way there is no failure. Only growth. The lessons learned can put into practice at a later date.
In the last couple years I learned to slow down, set small achievable goals, that lead towards my bigger goal; healing my gut! This way I have a clear idea of what my day looks like and I no longer get overwhelmed.
Start small
No matter where you are in your Health and Wellness Journey, incorporate simple mini rituals you can incorporate into your daily routine which support your end goal.
When I was battling SIBO, it took me 3 years to heal. And it’s taken me almost my entire lifetime to understand my chronic IBS. There were long stretches when I was so frustrated I gave up hope of ever feeling “normal”. I had no idea what normal felt like. Rather than jump in and do everything at once – which I had done numerous times in the past. I took micro steps towards my ultimate goal which was to heal my gut.
I started by drinking purified water every morning on an empty stomach with fresh squeezed lemon juice. Sounds simple right? Then after reading all the Medical Medium books I introduced celery juice. I crowded out late morning snacking by making a smoothie which I could sip on rather than want to nibble on something. Each of these tiny steps all played a valuable role in how incredible I feel today.
- Drink filtered room temperature after brushing your teeth first thing in the morning, bonus if you add fresh lemon juice.
- Eat a wide variety of nourishing whole foods. That’s food momma nature has grown.
- Drink Smoothies, Your blender has already broken down what your stomach needs to, allowing the vital nutrients to work without putting extra stress on your body.
- Meditate. This is the number one reason I’ve not had a full mental breakdown in the 21 years of being a momma to a special needs daughter.
- Cultivate uplifting and deep soulful connections. Create a tribe who support and believe in you, and remind you often that you are LOVED.
- Create healthy boundaries in your work and personal life.
- Spend time in nature. No matter the weather, get yourself outdoors for fresh air.
- Move your tush. Get a minimum of 30 mins of movement planned into your calendar every day.
- Gratitude practice. Start and end your day by writing in a journal what you are most grateful for.
- Sleep, get 8 hours of sleep every night.
Small, simple rituals practiced with consistency lead to big results overtime. Research shows, that rituals can help reduce anxiety and build confidence in people who don’t even believe in the power of intention or rituals.
