Peanut Butter Protein Balls
These Peanut Butter Protein Balls are a delicious nutritious snack that can be made in less than 5 minutes.
I like to have a few healthy treats on hand at all times. And let me tell you, these energy balls will be one that I’ll be making again and again they are that yummy! Hemp seeds provide a healthy natural plant based protein plus heart healthy Omega fatty acids.
If you’re looking for a healthy snack for that mid afternoon slump, or a healthy dessert alternative, this recipe is a great option.
A few notes on the recipe:
The dough should be easily form into balls when you roll it in your hands without falling apart.
If you find your dough is a little crumbly when you press it between your fingers, it means you need to add some more liquid to help it stick. Simply add a tbsp of medjool water (if soaking your dates).
If you find your dough is too sticky, don’t worry, add another teaspoon of shredded coconut. They will firm up nicely in the refrigerator.
Not a fan of peanut butter? Swap out for your favourite nut or seed butter.

This easy recipe is:
healthy, gluten-free, no bake,

simple to prepare, refined sugar free,
high in fiber, highly addictive, and delicious!
- 1/2 cup organic peanut butter
- 1 1/2 cup medjool dates pits removed (12-16)
- 1 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 2/3 cup roasted cashews
- 1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
- 2 tbsp hemp seeds optional
Add medjool dates to a food processor, pulse to break them down into small chunks. Add remaining ingredients minus 1 tbsp shredded coconut. Blend until the ingredients start to stick, don't over blend, you want to keep a crunch.
Sprinkle the remaining shredded coconut over the mixture.
Scoop out mixture and roll into a ball. Aim for a golf ball size. Place on a plate and refrigerator until firmed. Store in a sealed glass container in the refrigerator, or the freezer.*
- if your dates are hard and dry, soak them first, reserve the water to add to the mixture as needed to help the balls stick
- If freezing, remove a couple each morning to thaw before eating (Serena still likes her frozen!)
- don't over blend, you want to keep some crunch
