Soul share. Checking in…
How are you doing? I mean how are you REALLY doing? We are into week 3 of homeschooling and i’ll admit I still don’t have it down… perfectly. But hey, there is no perfect right?
Life might feel a little crazy right now, it does for me and I know my girls are feeling it. The smallest things can set off tears, and hysterical giggles. Emotions are running high… and low. I keep telling myself it’s perfectly natural to have these feelings, the good and the bad. But, to breathe into feelings of panic, despair and frustration.
You might be be feeling great one minute and celebrate that you are finally figuring out your new norm.. but then an hour later you might be feeling completely stressed out and throw your arms up with complete dismay. Maybe this roller coaster ride of emotions is on repeat.
Emotions and Food are connected.
Now more than ever creating a healthy connection with food is so important for you health and happiness. We talk about this in my Total Wellness Program, which I originally planned for May, but will open in June (you can join the waitlist here).
We will come out stronger… together.
It takes a community, and it takes commitment to one another to stay healthy and happy. When your neighbor is feeling down your natural instinct is to help and uplift. Take the same approach for yourself. We are all doing the best we can, and no one is feeling any different than you are.
How we cope is what matters. We need to take extra care of our health, our mindset and our body. With grace, empathy and love, we can cultivate an environment that uplifts and supports one another. When emotions start to reach a tipping point, breathe into love. If you reach for your second or third cookie, glass of wine, or scoop of ice-cream, breathe into compassion. When your heart starts to hurt from the pain, fear and unknown the world is feeling, breathe into grace.
This is a new experience for EVERYONE. You are not alone! How you are feeling is absolutely okay. There is no right or wrong way to handle what our world, our neighbors and ultimately our families are dealing with.
But, let me remind you, we will come out stronger.
How to take care of you and your mental health
Spend time outdoors
No matter the weather, do whatever it takes to get yourself outdoors. Even if it’s a short walk around your neighborhood. Spring is here. And nature is providing us with gifts of beauty. Maybe pour yourself a cuppa and sit on your patio bundled up and breathe in fresh air, feel the healing power from the sun. Walk your dog, chalk your sidewalk with words of love for all your neighbors to see. Plant some fresh veggies, walk barefoot in the grass or on the beach. Better yet, detach from technology, find stillness and meditate outdoors. Connect with the elements around you.
Connect
This is a time to reach out to your loved ones. Create a recurring meet up. Maybe with your bestie, it’s the time you would normally take a yoga class, or go for walk. Stick to your schedule, and be accountable to someone, which ultimately makes you show up for YOU. If you have loved ones in your home, human or fur babies. Give them hugs. Tell them how much you love and appreciate them. Start a gratitude practice; sort of a round table approach at meal time, where you each share what you are most grateful for. This can be done in person or virtually.
Reach out to any elderly neighbors. You will feel a sense of purpose when you consider the needs of others.
Reflect
Use this time, to turn inwards. Maybe start a journal. Take this opportunity to slow down and really listen to your heart. What is it that you are needing? How can you feel complete in this moment? How can you transition from feelings of fear and despair to joy and compassion? What matters most to you? What (if anything) is missing in your life, and what steps do you need to take to make it real?
What I know, is together we are stronger. When we are connected we create an energy of unity and are capable of anything. Use this time to be present and see what comes up. Let me know what is helping you stay grounded.
