Must have essential oils to boost your immune system
I’m so excited to share my passion for essential oils with you. I find most people typically think of them as a natural solution for room spray or fragrance. I promise you the benefits are far greater than and can completely transform your health. Below you’ll find my “must have essential oils to boost your immune system”.
It’s getting to be that time of year when you, your spouse or kiddo comes home with a sniffle, cough or worse – a fever. Providing a boost to your immune system should be a ritual practiced with reverence. Be conscious of how you nourish your body – in fact, it should be a top priority. Especially when the weather gets cooler and during seasonal changes. The majority of people think what we put in our mouth dictates the quality of our health, but living a healthy lifestyle is so much more than what we eat.
Boost your immune system
Our immune system is our body’s defense system. It is designed to protect against threats from outside the body. When functioning properly, our immune system is able to identify, target and destroy disease-causing pathogens (fungus, viruses and bacteria) without causing any harm to our bodies. We tend to think more about our immune system during the colder months, however it should be a priority year long. Preventative measures are best. Daily meditation, exercise, nourishing whole foods and removing toxic products from both our medicine cabinet, kitchen sink cabinet, laundry room and our makeup bags.
So what can we do to support our immune system? We can all start being more conscious and mindful of our lifestyle and pay close attention to our daily stress levels, nutrition, exercise and environmental exposure to toxins. Essential oils can provide a holistic and natural support system for our immune system. Many can be taken orally, used topically and can be diffused. Be sure to purchase only CPTG (certified pure therapeutic grade oils).
Environmental support
In our environment, the products we use to clean our homes are also what we ingest and can lead to respiratory problems. Many of these products contain artificial ingredients, toxins, chemicals, and phthalates. They disrupt our endocrine system (hello hormones) and are really dangerous for our children and pets. Yes, even your four legged friends health is something to consider.
Many of the most used everyday household products are toxic. Check out what’s under your kitchen sink, or in your laundry room. The laundry detergent and dryer sheets you use can cause severe skin reactions, not to mention how toxic the heavy fragranced chemicals used are. Just think, we breathe those in, which can cause headaches and respiratory problems.
Fresh smelling home
We all want our homes to smell clean and fresh but using the heavy aerosol sprays and paraffin based candles can also wreak havoc on your immune and endocrine system.
By incorporating essential oils into our everyday routines and making simple tweaks within our self care and household products we can keep our environment bug free, toxic free and healthy. Swap out nasty artificial fragrance room sprays and perfumes. Ditch toxic and chemically laden face and body creams. Say no to harsh smelling and toxic cleaning products. Our fur babies are walking on all those chemicals. Babies are crawling on them, not to mention the air quality inside our home is now worse than the air outside. This is all due to the products used inside our homes.
Make Clean living one of your top health priorities
I’ve previously shared my passion for essential oils and how I use them on a daily basis. They are a huge part of my skin care regime. Used in my home for “clean green” living and for my families overall health and wellbeing. I urge you to make clean living one of your top health priorities.
I honestly cannot remember the last time Stella or Serena have been sick, both have incredibly strong immune systems. Partly due to the food they eat, but I swear to the added benefits of including a few essential oils both in a diffuser, internally and topically.
Bug bites, wounds and general first aid care
Serena has severe reactions to insect bites and we carry a epipen at all times for bee stings. With an insect bite, her skin swells to the size larger than a quarter and blisters. In the past I’d run to the pharmacy for a topical steroid, oral antihistamine and anti-itch cream, spend a bundle of money and she’d get very little relief.
“Mother nature as your pharmacy”
Mother I find it incredible, to be able to turn to mother nature as your pharmacy cabinet. You can reach for therapeutic grade essential oils like Lavender, Melaleuca, Peppermint and Frankincense to provide relief from itch and swelling. I made a little roller bottle with these oils and some fractionate coconut oil which she can rub on her skin for immediate relief. Today she was bitten by a mosquito and I applied Lavender neat – directly to the bite for fast relief and to reduce the swelling she typically gets. By bedtime she had no more itch and no swelling. Yay!
