Wellness Activity: Write yourself a Love Letter!

,

Love is the greatest experience to have, share, and to feel. There is nothing more sacred than the love between momma and baby, true soul mates, best friends and everyone in between. Love has no boundaries, there is no judgment, no expectations, it simply exists. As women, we are fantastic as nurturing others, but we often neglect and sometimes quite deliberately to love ourselves.

You are exactly enough. This very moment, you are enough of absolutely everything. There is nothing more you need, except of course to truly honor, believe and accept your ‘enoughness’.

Your wellness activity for this weekend is to take love into your own hands – and heart – shine! Shine I want you to feel the glow burning deep within knowing how loved you are, how capable you are loving and how worthy you are of being loved.

Your task

Expression through writing allows us to go deep. Self-love is more than manicures and pedicures, don’t get me wrong I love a monthly massage too. But self-love is fulling accepting you exactly as you are. You don’t need new shoes to be a better friend. You don’t need a higher paying job to be a more attractive lover.

By writing we are able to tap into areas we may have shied away from. We can offer forgiveness for mistakes made in our past. Generously give credit for outstanding achievement no matter the size or when it occurred. Be the voice of support and your own personal cheerleader. Don’t shy away, spend as much time as you need. I want you to feel your heart bursting at the seams with the amount of love you channel.

Once you have written your letter. Seal it. You can set a reminder in your calendar to reopen a year from now. Or as we enter a new decade, maybe you set it to read ten years from now. Or, carry it with you and read it whenever you need an instant boost of love. If you haven’t already participated in our 30 days of Self-Love, this letter is day one, and one of the most important rituals we do.

Prompts

  • Forgive yourself for mistakes
  • Acknowledge they have brought you to where you are today
  • List your special talents
  • List your unique qualities
  • What gifts do you have to share with those around you
  • What do you most appreciate about yourself
  • Share what are you most grateful for
  • What commitment can you make with yourself

Remember to be gentle. This is your time to cerenade yourself just as you’d want someone else to do. If you are feeling hesitant, or perhaps find this sightly awkward or challenging, here are 3 ways to jumpstart your self-love mission.

  • Look deep into your eyes in the mirror for 5 minutes
  • Close your eyes and place you left hand over your heart, your right hand over your left and sit as long as you need to
  • Pretend you are your own secret admirer.
