What is my body trying to tell me?

Do you ever wonder what your body is trying to tell you? Why you have cravings and which is the best diet for you? Do you get confused or overwhelmed with the latest diet trends or fads? You are not alone beautiful.

Let me start by sharing the good news. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healthy living. You, your loved ones, friends and neighbors all have very different health needs and there are is no magic diet and no prescription medication which offers a cure all. I believe in bio-individuality! And that is why I truly believe you have to spend the time to hone in on what works best for your body but also what doesn’t work. Love the food that loves you back! And, remember your bodies needs will most likely change over time.

And no, you are not missing out on any quick fix new diet trend. I promise!

“Let’s dive deep on the word diet”

Let’s dive deep on the word diet for a moment. What emotions does the word diet bring up in you? Maybe you have repressed emotions from university days – the freshman 15? My older daughter told me it was a hot topic at her sorority, girls binge eating then throwing up, or starving themselves. Yet the amount of sugar in all the alcohol consumed is never a consideration. How about your childhood? Repressed emotions from childhood can manifest later in life as disease and so much more. This is a hot topic for a lot of my clients.

But the word diet in itself is temporary; there is no long term commitment to a diet. Your brain is so incredibly smart, it already recognizes a diet as a band-aid approach to a long term commitment. That’s why over 90% of people who go on a diet to lose weight, actually regain the weight they lost.

There is no big hidden secret, what it boils down to is this: knowing your body — listen to it, and I mean really listen. Take the time to get to know YOU. What do you need to feel amazing, strong, vibrant and alive? You can answer that better than any new diet trend that crops up over night.

My Best tips:

  • Increase and eat a variety of fresh berries and vegetables
  • Eat a rainbow of colours
  • Eat seasonally
  • Chew your food well and slow down
  • Drink a glass of water before reaching for a big bag of chips, cookies or ice cream
  • Go for a walk, turn on your favourite music and dance
  • Start a morning GODDESS ritual
  • Practice mindful breath work
  • Learn to love yourself for who you are
  • Track your foods by journalling to discover any negative responses your body might be having
  • Download your FREE SELF-LOVE RITUALS

Take the time to reflect. How do you feel after eating a certain food? How does your body respond when you’ve eaten something your gut doesn’t agree with? Creating mind body awareness is absolutely essential to implement healthy eating habits. Set yourself up to feel your absolute best every day!

Emotional Eating

Get in tune with your emotions and determine any triggers that motivate unfavourable food choices. Recognize how your body is feeling in the moment. When you are unhappy or under stress, what food do you naturally crave? How about when you are happy, motivated and the world is aligned? This simple exercise provides an insight into what drives our eating decisions. Perhaps start a food journal and track what foods you eat and how your mood and digestive system was in the both the present and the following couple days.

For some of my clients when stress and anxiety take over their mind and body, food is something they tend to avoid. Be conscious of all your emotions and how your body reacts.

How we feel all stems from our food choices. Our bodies change and therefore our nutritional needs change too. You might find the need to increase protein, fat or carbohydrates, or to eat less. Developing a healthy relationship with food is crucial for optimal wellness and to reclaim our health. And remember there is no such thing as a magic pill, and there is no one diet fits all.  Getting hung up on the latest diet trend is not listening and being authentic to your own unique needs.

Find healthy food you love. Eat more of it and slowly you’ll see the transformation where you’ll naturally crowd out what no longer serves you.  You are the first step to improving your health and overall wellness.

If you find something healthy to enable you to crowd out something that is not serving your body, let me know. I’d love you to pin it on Pinterest or share it on Facebook Post your creation on Instagram (tag me @amandavs and #amandavs, #healthyissexy) I’d love to see all your transitions.
